WD Partners hires new designers; Landscape Forms breaks ground on facility addition; Space International Inc. wins Will Ching Design Competition

Junckers Hardwood Inc. (Anaheim, Calif., hardwood flooring manufacturer) has hired Jason Elliott as territory sales representative for Northern California.

WD Partners (Columbus, Ohio, design and branding firm) has hired Kurt Shade as senior environmental designer, and Bob Welty as director, environmental design. Shade was previously with Retail Planning Associates, while Welty joins WD Partners from Chute Gerdeman.

ShopKo Stores Inc. (Green Bay, Wis., retail store operator) has named Michael Friedenreich director of planning and replenishment for the company's 141-store ShopKo division. Friedenreich, who joined ShopKo in 1980 at its Racine, Wis., store, will be responsible for planning, forecasting and replenishment of grocery, health and beauty aids, over-the-counter medications, prescription medications and traffic merchandise categories.

Fairfield Displays and Lighting (Hatfield, Pa., displays, lighting and signage manufacturer) has appointed Michael Evans as executive vp, responsible for expansion in the U.S.

Arlon (Santa Ana, Calif., vinyl film manufacturer) has named Brian Holbert national accounts manager for the U.S. — Western Region. Holbert most recently served as director of sales for Australia and New Zealand for the past two years.

Landscape Forms (Kalamazoo, Mich., designer and manufacturer of outdoor commercial furniture) has broken ground on a 35,000-square-foot addition to its current facility. The addition will bring the total building size to 150,000 square feet and will include more office, manufacturing and shipping/receiving space.

Lam Lighting Systems Inc. (Santa Ana, Calif., indirect lighting solutions manufacturer) has announced the debut of www.lamlighting.com. The web site includes product offerings, company history and product specification sheets.

The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) has announced that Space International Inc. (Los Angeles) is the winner of the 11th annual Will Ching Design Competition for its Noevir USA project in Irvine, Calif. The competition, which is co-sponsored by Mannington Commercial carpets, recognizes outstanding commercial design from firms of five or fewer people.

The Soderstrom Society of the National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL, Paramus, N.J.) has announced that I. Gregg Van Wert, principal of The Haven Group, and former NAPL president, will receive the 43rd annual Walter E. Soderstrom Award. The award recognizes Van Wert for his contributions to the development and progress of the printing industry.
