GNC Considers Selling Company

Health and nutrition retailer GNC Holdings Inc. (Pittsburgh) announced the company is undergoing strategic review. The company also stated that one possible action could be the sale of the company.

Retailing Today reports GNC is reacting to news of a disappointing first quarter by discussing potential acceleration of refranchising strategies, partnerships, collaborations and capital structure optimization. GNC earned $50.8 million in the first quarter compared with $63.3 million last year.

The company is also attempting to sell 1000 company-owned stores in the next four years.
