Golfsmith Intl. Closing 59 More Stores

Golfsmith Intl. (Austin, Texas) announced that it will close 59 of its stores across the country, while keeping 30 stores open throughout 16 states. These closures are in addition to the 20 store closures the retailer already announced.

The news follows the retailer’s acquisition by Dick’s Sporting Goods (Coraopolis, Pa.) and various liquidators after the company declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The team of liquidators includes Hilco (Northbrook, Ill.), Gordon Brothers (Boston), and Tiger Capital Group (New York), who will sell of some $80 million worth of golf merchandise, reports Retail Dive.
