STORE OPENINGS

Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. (Jacksonville, Fla.) has opened a 55,000-square-foot supermarket in Covington, La. It’s the company’s first newly constructed location since 2004 and the first grocery store in Louisiana to receive the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) GreenChill certification. GreenChill is an EPA Partnership with food retailers designed to help reduce refrigerant emissions and decrease the industry’s impact on the ozone layer and climate change. Supermarkets that reduce their refrigerant emissions by at least 65 percent versus the average may receive GreenChill’s store certification award. Currently, only 26 supermarkets in the nation have qualified.

CVS/pharmacy (Woonsocket, R.I.) has opened its first store in Memphis.

The Tile Shop (Nashville, Tenn.) has opened a new 18,500-square-foot retail store in Franklin, Tenn. The new store is The Tile Shop’s first in Tennessee.

BUSINESS BRIEFS

The Gymboree Corp. (San Francisco) reported net sales from retail operations for the fourth fiscal quarter ended January 30, 2010, of $295.7 million, an increase of 4 percent compared to net sales from retail operations of $284.8 million for the fourth fiscal quarter of the prior year. Comparable store sales for the fourth fiscal quarter decreased 2 percent.

Smith & Fong Co. (San Francisco) announced that it has obtained two indoor air quality certifications: FloorScore for its PlybooPure bamboo flooring, and Indoor Advantage Gold for its PlybooPure bamboo plywood products. FloorScore, developed by the Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI) in conjunction with Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), tests and certifies hard surface flooring and flooring adhesive products for compliance with rigorous indoor air quality emissions requirements. Indoor Advantage Gold is based on a program established by the California Office of Environmental Health and Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) that uses procedures developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which have been subjected to extensive peer review and public comment.

Ruscio Studio (Montreal) has moved to a new location at 2197 Sherbrooke St. East in downtown Montreal.
