Herman Miller Opens First US Flagship

New York brick-and-mortar store now open

Herman Miller (Zeeland, Mich.) has opened its first North American brick-and-mortar store this week. While the company itself has been in business for more than 80 years, this is the first time it has opened its own retail space in the U.S. The flagship’s debut is an effort to introduce the brand to a new audience who may not be familiar with its products.

Located in a historic New York Park Avenue building, the first level of the bi-level space is divided into a variety of living spaces — such as sleeping, dining and work areas — that show off the company’s various products. The second floor acts as a showroom where shoppers can customize many of the products.

The store will feature the company’s iconic pieces (such as Eames recliners and George Nelson’s modular sofa) as well as less familiar pieces and all sorts of accessories to complement the larger furniture offerings, reports Curbed.
