HHGregg’s chief retail officer is leaving the company, reports TWICE. Sam Johnson joined the company seven years ago as the company’s senior vice president of stores. Last year, he was promoted to chief retail officer, and he will continue in that role through April 15. An 8-K filing detailed that he has resigned to pursue other opportunities.

Johnson oversees store operations, customer relations, the Fine Lines premium appliance business, commercial sales real estate and visual merchandising for the company. He previously worked at Sears (Hoffman Estates, Ill.).

The news comes in the aftermath of the retailer’s bankruptcy that it filed last month. Johnson is the first of the company’s senior executives to leave the company since the filing.
