Retailer will establish coast-to-coast presence in 2003

Kohl's Department Stores (Menomonee Falls. Wis.) has announced plans to open 28 stores in Southern California next spring, creating a coast-to-coast presence for the first time in the company's history.

The fast-growing retailer, which currently operates 457 stores in 33 states, was also rated highest in customer satisfaction among the largest moderately priced department stores in a J.D. Powers and Associates survey. The study reported top marks for Kohl's in its segment for value, store environment, merchandise, reputation and sales and promotions.
