Canadian retail conglomerate Hudson's Bay Co. (Toronto) has purchased department store company Lord & Taylor Holdings. Hudson's Bay will operate the two retail banners – The Bay and Lord & Taylor – in North America. Prior to the transaction, Hudson's Bay Company and Lord & Taylor were side-by-side affiliate entities.

Amid the restructuring, Lord & Taylor president and ceo Brendan Hoffman has left the company, reports Women’s Wear Daily, and Bonnie Brooks has been appointed president of the Canadian parent, the Hudson’s Bay Co. Brooks was formerly president and ceo of The Bay division. In her new role, she will oversee the merchandise, marketing and store operations of L&T and The Bay. Donald Watros will continue as chief operating officer of Hudson’s Bay Co.

The company says the two retailers will operate independently and that neither nameplate will be changed.
