Retailer will close “financially unviable” stores and cut 200 jobs

Jaeger (London) will be closing 20 stores and letting go more than 200 employees. Those jobs include 165 employees at the “financially unviable” stores that are slated to close as well as 44 employees working at the company’s head office and in distribution roles that are now deemed “redundant,” reports Belfast Telegraph.

The stores selected to close were found to have operating costs that made them “financially unviable.” Details were not available as to dates when the closures or cuts would go into effect.

The company has hired AlixPartners (New York) to oversee the administration process following the retailer’s failed attempt to sell the company.
