JCPenney Names New Chairman

Thomas Engibous to assume post at end of January

JCPenney Co. Inc. (Plano, Texas) named Thomas Engibous as chairman of its Board of Directors, effective Jan. 28, 2012. Engibous was named to the board in 1999 and has served as presiding director and lead independent director since 2008. He will assume the chairman's role from Myron E. (Mike) Ullman, III, JCPenney's former chief executive officer, who is stepping down as executive chairman.

“Tom is deeply committed to the success of the Company, shares our vision for the future and has been invaluable to me in my early days leading JCPenney,” says ceo Ron Johnson. His guidance will continue to be of great help as we build JCPenney into America's Favorite Store.”

Engibous’ career includes serving as president, ceo and chairman of Texas Instruments Inc.
