SIA, European home accessories company, to open shops in Macy's West stores

Macy's West (San Francisco) has announced that SIA, a European retailer of home décor accessories, is opening shops in 20 of its department stores this fall. The 500-square-foot shops — SIA's first in the U.S. — will be in 18 California Macy's and two in Nevada.

“The U.S. home accessories market is huge and American consumers are placing increased importance on their home environment and decoration,” says SIA president Johan Nilsson. “Given Macy's West's penetration of the home market, we feel this partnership is ideal.”

SIA's collection consists of high-end home decorative items, including artificial flowers, vases, frames, candles, furniture and textiles. The company was founded in Sweden in 1963, when Sonia Ingrid Andersson began crafting paper flowers and designing printed fabrics out of her home. Today, SIA is based near Paris and has retail operations in more than 30 countries, operating 19 freestanding boutiques and more than 350 vendor shops at such retailers as Harrods, Isetan and Les Galeries Lafayette. The company's foray into the U.S. market is being led by Yves Coleon, president of SIA North America (Bronxville, N.Y.).
