McDonald’s (Chicago) said it is about to enter the busiest restaurant-opening stretch in its history, unveiling plans to open an additional 10,000 restaurants by 2027. The fast-food giant, which currently has about 40,000 locales worldwide, unveiled that target as part of its “Accelerating the Arches” blueprint detailed prior to the first day of an investors’ event.

“We have a clear trajectory for future growth as we continue to build on the brand strength, global footprint and digital ecosystem that have resulted in unparalleled competitive advantages and cemented McDonald’s as one of the world’s leading consumer-facing brands,” said President and CEO said Chris Kempczinski.

The company described its expansion plans as the fourth element in what it previously called its 3Ds initiative, which it said involved “doubling down” on delivery, digital and drive-thru.

The company was also expected to detail plans for its new CosMc’s brand at the conference, but that information was not available as of this posting.
