Metro Plans Electronics Store in China

First store will debut in Shanghai

German retail group Metro (Frankfurt) plans to open its first Media Markt electronics outlet in China in 2010, with plans to bring about 100 stores to the country over the next five years.

The venture will include Taiwan Foxconn Technology Group becoming a partner with a 25-percent share in Media Markt.

Parent company Metro owns Media Markt and Saturn, another electronics retail chain, and has been present in China for 14 years through its Cash&Carry chain.
