Office Depot launches new Millennium store concept

Office Depot (Delray Beach, Fla.) has opened its first “Millennium” store, in Marietta, Ga.

Among the features of the new store, according to Jerry Colley, the company's president of North American stores, are “logical product adjacencies that group products based on relatedness; an improved way-finding system that makes aisle markers and category signs more user-friendly and easier to read; and a more subdued ambient lighting system with warmer and richer colors.”

“Driving North American retail sales continues to be our number one priority,” said Bruce Nelson, chairman and ceo of the nation's largest office supplies retailer. “We are looking at this new remodel format to not only enhance our customers' shopping experience, but clearly differentiate our store from the competition.”
