Home Depot announces that nearly all stores have reopened following Hurricane Wilma

The Home Depot (Atlanta), which announced that 65 stores in South Florida had closed on Monday due to Hurricane Wilma, reported that 64 of those stores had reopened.

“We have a responsibility to our customers to get our stores open as soon as possible,” said Paul Raines, Southern Division president. “Each store can operate on their large, back-up generators as long as we can supply the fuel. If the generator goes down, we can — and will — escort customers into the darkened stores by flashlight, just as we did last year.”

The 2005 hurricane season has been one of the most aggressive on record. To date, The Home Depot’s donations in cash and materials to the various relief efforts from Florida to Texas exceed $5 million.
