Saks Inc. Names New Senior VP of Stores

Russell Schutte will join the Proffitt's/McRae's division

Russell Schutte, a former executive with Federated Department Stores (Cincinnati), has been named senior vp of stores for the Proffitt's/McRae's division of Saks Inc. (Birmingham, Ala.).

Schutte will report to Toni Browning, president and ceo of the Alcoa, Tenn.-based division.

Schutte was formerly senior vp and regional director of stores for Federated's Miami-based division, Burdine's, a position he had held since 1995. Between 1977 and 1995, he held various merchandising and store positions with May Department Stores Co. (St. Louis), including the post of regional vp of stores for May's Robinsons-May division in Los Angeles. He began his retail career at Gimbel's.
