Saks Fifth Avenue (New York) announced Wednesday that it has selected Tracy Margolies as its new chief merchant, filling the vacancy left by Jennifer de Winter this past February, reports Women’s Wear Daily.

Margolies, currently svp and general merchandise manager of beauty, contemporary, footwear and handbags for Bergdorf Goodman (New York), was selected by Marc Metrick, Saks’ new president. Metrick succeeds Merigay McKee, who suddenly announced her departure from the company two weeks ago.

“There were a couple of different lanes I could have taken, but I wanted someone who could really integrate the merchandising strategy across all of our different corporate initiatives,” Metrick said. Margolies is expected to help launch the company in Canada and push the retailer's omnichannel approach forward.

Metrick does not expect any other changes to the merchant team in the near future, he explained to WWD. “I feel really good about our merchant organization right now.”
