Sears Holdings Announces 78 More Store Closings

Kmart and Sears stores to close by mid-September

Sears Holdings Corp. (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) has announced that 78 company stores will be closing this year. The store closings will include 68 Kmart stores and 10 Sears stores.

Women’s Wear Daily reports that all the planned Sears closings will take place by July, along with 66 of the Kmart stores. The remaining two Kmart stores will close in mid-September.

Liquidation sales will begin on May 12 for closing Kmart stores and on April 29 for Sears stores. Store associates will be given opportunities to apply for positions at other company locations.
