Though Sigrid Olsen’s newest store prototype got its initial unveiling at the glitzy International Plaza in Tampa, Fla., its design – a collaboration between Olsen and Pompei A.D. (New York) – is inspired by a decidedly different space more than 1000 miles to the north: Olsen’s country home near Hamilton, Mass.

“The retail space is divided into separate areas that encourage customers to explore various living environments, evocative of visiting a friend’s home,” says Olsen, who sells women’s sportswear in more than 50 stores bearing her name, as well as at select specialty and department stores.

In keeping with that residential theme, designers created a centerpiece dresser/drawer fixture with a tiled surface that’s used primarily for displaying and storing accessories. “The drawer faces have been stenciled with a pattern from Sigrid’s own art prints,” notes Kathleen Lytle, a project manager at Pompei A.D. “Some drawers are left open to reveal what’s within, encouraging the customer to explore.”

The space’s residential feel is also on prominent display in its lounge seating area, which is home to oval rugs bearing Olsen’s artwork, and at its entrance, which resembles a back porch (complete with French doors).
