on

Starbucks is expanding its overseas business, planning to open about 1000 stores in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America by 2003. The Seattle-based coffee retailer expects its international business will help increase annual revenue by at least 25 percent a year through fiscal 2005.

The company's first European store is slated to open this January in Zurich, Switzerland. It plans to infiltrate six other European markets in the next two years. Starbucks currently operates 3000 stores in North America and expects to have up to 10,000 domestic locations open in the long run.
