Natural Wonders purchases shares of World of Science

Natural Wonders (Fremont, Calif.), specialty retailer of gifts relating to nature and science, has signed an agreement to purchase all shares of common stock of World of Science (Rochester, N.Y.), a retailer with a similar product line and theme. The transaction is expected to be completed, subject to conditions and approval, before the end of the third quarter. According to Peter G. Hanelt, Natural Wonders ceo, “the combined company will be the largest mall-based specialty retailer within the nature and science category.”Natural Wonders has 182 stores; World of Science has more than 140 stores in 28 states throughout the East and Midwest.
