Tommy Hilfiger Licensing Inc. (Newark, Del.), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tommy Hilfiger Corp. (Hong Kong), has announced a new licensing agreement with Winlit Group Ltd. (New York) for the manufacture and distribution of men's leather outerwear. The new line will be available in leading department and specialty stores throughout North America beginning in fall 2003.

“We are thrilled to be working with one of the predominant companies in men's fashion,” said Geoffrey Freeman, vp of Winlit's men's division. “We feel that our expertise in the leather outerwear category, combined with the design direction and strong brand recognition of Tommy Hilfiger, will enable us to jointly create innovative, affordable men's leather outerwear that will represent the quality and design innovation that has become synonymous with the Tommy Hilfiger name.”

“Winlit has a longstanding history of leadership in the leather outerwear sector,” said Lynn Shanahan, president of licensing at Tommy Hilfiger U.S.A. Inc. “We are confident that their strong sourcing, product quality and retail relationships position them to accomplish great things with the Tommy Hilfiger brand.”

Winlit Group is currently the leather outerwear licensee for Guess (men's and women's), London Fog (men's and women's) and Ellen Tracy. In addition, Winlit sells under its own labels of Winlit, LNR and NY10018.

Through the licensing agreement, Tommy Hilfiger will provide customers with a broad range of leather offerings at prices ranging from $200 to $600. The line will include classic outerwear pieces in lambskins, textured cowhides, faux shearling and other fashion pieces in novelty types of leathers.
