Uniqlo to Boost U.S. Brand Awareness

Changes merchandise strategy

Published

International clothing retailer Uniqlo Co. Ltd. (Tokyo) has not met projected growth in the U.S. market according to Business Insider. Though the company has planned further expansion in the country, the company cited Americans’ unfamiliarity with the brand as the reason for its growth troubles.

The brand stated it would continue focusing on opening new stores in key locations, such as Chicago and Boston, in order to expand awareness of the brand and online sales.

Uniqlo has also cited unseasonably warm weather throughout much of the U.S. this year for part of the company’s financial struggles, since its winter line’s sales have been disappointing. The company has begun shipping its spring line early and plans to carry fewer weather-dependent products.
