Victoria's Secret Going Fast Fashion

Less time between design, distribution

Victoria’s Secret (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) executives told analysts last week that it is adopting a fast-fashion business model, speeding up its design, distribution and restocking processes to generate more store traffic and turn over merchandise more quickly.

According to Business Insider, ceo Sharen Turney said the company has shortened the gap between the time items are designed and their store debuts. “We've already taken probably four months out of our development time and believe there is probably another two months to continue to work in,” Turney said.

The fast fashion model has proven successful in recent years for companies such as H&M, Zara and Forever 21, while traditional specialty retailers, such as Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch, Ann Taylor and American Eagle, have largely lagged behind.
