Walmart to Build Neighborhood Market in L.A.

Smaller format will open in Chinatown neighborhood

Walmart Stores Inc. (Bentonville, Ark.) has signed a deal for its first Neighborhood Market grocery store in Los Angeles, reports Reuters.

The 33,000-square-foot store will occupy the ground floor of a senior housing complex on the edge of downtown Los Angeles' Chinatown neighborhood.

The smaller-sized format location will sell food and other everyday items. An opening date has not been set, spokesman Steve Restivo told Reuters.

The world’s largest retailer operates 167 Neighborhood Markets across the U.S.
