Walmart, Old Navy Winners on Black Friday

Research based on locations analysis charts weekend’s winners and losers

According to data gathered by Placed Inc., the Seattle-based locations analytics provider, Walmart (Bentonville, Ark.) was by far the top shopping destination on Black Friday, beating out Target (Minneapolis), with more than twice the share of total shoppers.

Old Navy (San Francisco) and Victoria’s Secret (Columbus, Ohio) secured two of the top three spots in the “top-gainers” ranking, with American Eagle (Pittsburgh) showing strong showing in store traffic.

Among department stores, Macy’s (Cincinnati) had the most successful Black Friday weekend in terms of traffic share, followed by JC Penney (Plano, Texas), Kohl’s (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) and Sears (Hoffman Estates, Ill.).
