Whole Foods Promotes its Chief Information Officer

Whole Foods Market Inc. (Austin, Texas) announced Chief Information Officer Jason Buechel has been promoted to the chain’s executive leadership team. He will retain his cio responsibilities, but will now have senior executive voting power.

The Wall Street Journal reports the move highlights the increasing importance of technology in the company’s strategic plans.

Buechel has been responsible for many of the company’s recent improvements in front- and back-end technology, and is expected to continue driving innovation in the chain.
