CompUSA's version of a grand entrance is the huge multi-media wall that greets visitors when they ride the escalator up to the computer superstore in downtown Chicago. The wall is a graphic collage of neon, computer and digital images, backlit boxes and audio messages that communicate the company's core values and services. Four- by-32-ft. photo banners suspended from the lobby ceiling reinforce the brand message. Departing from its more conservative suburban image, the Dallas-based computer retailer wanted a vibrant color scheme and bold graphics for its downtown store. Shikatani Lacroix Design, Toronto, developed new interior and exterior signage, gave the store's business center a more upscale look and designed the CompKids department to appeal more to children and their parents.
