Aldi Opens First Store in NYC

Additional locations planned for Bronx and Long Island

Discount grocer Aldi (Batavia, Ill.), the U.S. subsidiary of Aldi Group of Germany, has opened its first store in Rego Park, Queens, with plans to expand into the Bronx and Bayshore, L.I., within the next 12 months, reports Crains New York.

“We are looking for other opportunities in the city,” says Bruce Persohn, vp, Aldi's South Windsor division in Connecticut.

Aldi operates more than 1000 stores in the U.S.
