Apple (Cupertino, Calif.) announced its plans to raise its starting pay to $22 an hour, according to The Verge. The starting wage was recently set at $20 an hour.

In a statement to The Wall Street Journal, an Apple spokesperson said, “Supporting and retaining the best team members in the world enables us to deliver the best, most innovative products and services for our customers … This year as part of our annual performance review process, we’re increasing our overall compensation budget.”

The news follows a third Apple store in the U.S. seeking to unionize, followed by stores in New York and Georgia.
