Retailer releases list of 56 underperforming locations that will shutter

After announcing it would close 150 stores as part of its turnaround strategy, Bed Bath & Beyond (Union, NJ) has released a list of the first 56 locations that will shutter.

The retailer laid out its turnaround plan in late August. In addition to the store closures, the company said its corporate and supply chain workforce will be cut by at least 20 percent.

Bed Bath & Beyond is working to rebound from a first quarter during which sales plunged by 25 percent. The company also lost $358 million for the three months ended May 28. Its fiscal second quarter results will be announced on Sept. 29.
