Best Buy Plans to Revamp Business

Positions itself to compete with Amazon

Published

Best Buy (Richfield, Minn.) shared some of its plans to create an in-store environment that entices foot traffic and allows it to compete with the likes of Amazon (Seattle).

That includes making the retailer a destination where customers can try out the latest technologies for themselves as well as talk to knowledgeable store associates for advice and insights about the latest products.

To accomplish that, the retailer plans to train more of its store staff as well as expand the capabilities of its in-home tech-support Geek Squad offerings.

It also has begun to expand its in-store products to include categories such as smart home products (along with installation services) and will be the only U.S. retailer to allow customers to try out the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset in select stores, reports Fortune.
