Debuts in November

Bloomingdale’s (New York) has announced it will be opening its first store in Hawaii. The three-storied, 165,000-square-foot flagship store will open Nov. 12 on the island of Oahu. It will be located in Ala Moana Center, the world’s largest, open-air shopping center.

Due to the large number of tourists who frequent the island, the retailer plans to incorporate a larger assortment of products suitable for gifts into its merchandising, including designer handbags, fragrances, jewelry and sunglasses. It will also have a multilingual visitors’ center.

The store will also feature exclusive collections including Vera Wang (New York) ready-to-wear and Burberry (London) Beauty, as well as advanced digital features such as mirrors with touch-screen lighting and tablets in fitting rooms to communicate with staff or locate products.

The store design also draws on the local aesthetics, incorporating beamed wood ceilings and a tropical-wood shutter design on walls. It will also include a variety of local products, such as local honey, coffee and sea salts, reports Women’s Wear Daily.
