California Pizza Kitchen (Costa Mesa, Calif.) has cut the ribbon on a new locale in India.

This is the second CPK India restaurant opened by franchisee Sanjay Mahtani, the co-founder and operator of JSM Corporation. Earlier this year, he opened a location at Seawoods Grand Central Mall in Navi Mumbai.

The new restaurant, in Mumbai’s Kohinoor Square, features a dining area that conveys the pizza chain’s California style with a nod to local Indian culture. The result is a unique CPK dining experience that carries over to the menu as well, which features six new India-only items.

“The new opening in India further accelerates our strategic franchise development plans, and we’re thrilled to grow alongside such experienced operators like Sanjay as we continue to expand both globally and domestically,” said Giorgio Minardi, Executive VP of Global and Franchise Operations for CPK, in a release.

The new restaurant in India comes on the heels of recent expansions by CPK in both Canada and Chile, the release says.

Founded in 1985, California Pizza Kitchen opened its first restaurant in Beverly Hills. It now operates more than 180 locales across 10 countries and U.S. territories.
