Century 21 to Unveil New Concept

Discount store shares building with Manhattan Century 21

Century 21 (New York) is set to unveil C21 Edition, a venue for designer sample sales and vintage luxury goods.

Located within Century 21’s Manhattan flagship, the off-price store will retain its parent’s upscale aesthetic. C21 Edition will feature its own entrance and elevator to impart an aura of exclusivity, according to Women’s Wear Daily. The company has roughly a year of designer sample sales slated for merchandising. Each will run one to two months.

The concept will launch November 19 with a two-day private sale of vintage items from luxury designers including Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Gucci, Cartier and other brands. The items are supplied by vintage luxury wholesaler LXR & CO. (Montreal).

C21 Edition is part of Century 21’s plan to gain a foothold in downtown Manhattan as new retailers, including both regular priced and off-price stores flood the neighborhood. Over the last two years, the 225,000-square-foot Century 21 flagship has added three selling floors. It has also opened a studio on nearby Church Street where it produces social media marketing content.

Spanning two levels, the 3000-square-foot C21 Edition reflects Century 21’s upscale vibe. Existing selling space was gutted and ductwork removed to create 16-foot ceilings. Walls and floors are finished in raw and polished concrete and a neutral palette. Like its full-priced parent, C21 Edition features bold brass trims on its custom vitrines and in the wood floors and ceilings. A 16-foot iron-framed, two-way mirrored wall overlooks the flagship’s main floor.
