Sears, Roebuck and Co. (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) has named Catherine David to the post of vp and general manager of its Great Indoors operation. David replaces Jeff Jones, who was promoted to executive vp of merchandising operations for Sears in April of 2004.

She will be responsible for merchandising, marketing and operations, reporting to Beryl Buley, Sears’ senior vp and general merchandise manager of home stores..

David has held senior leadership roles at Target Corp. (Minneapolis), where her responsibilities during her 12-year tenure there included oversight of the customer direct business, merchandise planning, buying and marketing. Most recently, she served as president of Newell-Rubbermaid’s Burnes Group, the world’s largest supplier of photo frames and related products.

“Catherine is a proven leader and her drive and experience will be invaluable in leading The Great Indoors at this important stage,” Buley said.
