David Mathews named president of Circuit City Direct web site, service and catalog division

Circuit City Stores Inc. (Richmond, Va.) has named David L. Mathews as senior vp and president of Circuit City Direct, which operates the consumer electronics retailer’s web site, customer call centers, business-to-business sales, direct consumer marketing and a soon-to-be-introduced Circuit City catalog.

Mathews was most recently ceo of Allasso Management Group, a direct marketing consulting practice. Previously, he was president and chief operating officer of Crutchfield Corp. (Charlottesville, Va.), a direct marketer of consumer electronics, and senior vp, marketing, of eCustomers Inc. He also spent three years with Dell Computer Corp. (Round Rock, Texas) in various marketing roles; and 11 years with L.L. Bean Inc. (Freeport, Maine) in catalog, international retailing and internet roles.
