Gap Inc. (San Francisco) has announced that Charlotte Neuville is joining the company as executive vp of design and product development for the Gap brand. Neuville will oversee all aspects of product design and development for the brand’s adult men’s and women’s apparel and accessories, reporting to Gap president Cynthia Harriss effective Oct. 17, 2005.

Pina Ferlisi, currently executive vp, Gap design, is leaving the company immediately.

Neuville had been executive vp of design at New York & Co. Inc. (New York), the former Lerner’s Shops, where she led the design team’s creative direction for women’s apparel. Prior to her nine-year tenure at New York & Co., she held senior design positions at Cygne Designs, Jones New York Sport, Adrienne Vittadini and Perry Ellis. She has also had her own apparel collection.

“With more than 20 years of design experience, Charlotte has a strong and proven ability to interpret style and provide leadership in product development,” Harriss said. “We’re excited to have Charlotte working with our talented design team to deliver Gap’s fresh, casual, American style to our customers.”
