Dollar General President and Chief Strategist To Retire

David Beré closes eight-year career with the discount retailer

Dollar General’s president and chief strategist David Beré will retire January 29, the close of the company’s current fiscal year. An eight-year veteran with Dollar General, Beré served on the board of directors since 2002 before being named president in 2006 and interim ceo in 2007. He will continue as a board member of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

Dollar General has no plans to replace the outgoing Beré at this time. Rick Dreiling, chairman and ceo, takes on the additional title of  president of the 8,700-store chain.
