Wally’s (St. Louis) has announced plans for the first of several travel centers for the Kansas City Metro area. The inaugural locale, in Independence, Mo., will include a 50,000-square-foot of travel center, 80 fueling positions and 20 electric vehicle charging stations.

The company’s 24/7 centers include:

  • Several food stations.
  • A canteen with a beef jerky bar and other hot food items.
  • A bakery and coffee bar.

Wally’s has plans to open multiple locations in the Kansas City Metro. With Wally’s operations and development team located in St. Louis, Kansas City is a logical move, says CEO Michael Rubenstein.

“Kansas City is a perfect fit for the Wally’s experience,” Rubenstein explains. “That’s particularly true for the Independence site, which gives Wally’s access to a strong traffic count and highway visibility, both key criteria for our business model.”

Established in 2020, Wally’s describes itself as “a luxury travel center proud to serve as the Home of the Great American Road Trip.” The company currently operates two locations – in Pontiac, Ill., and Fenton, Mo. – and has a third in the works in Whitestown, Ind.
