Federated Department Stores Inc. (Cincinnati) has named Timothy M. Adams chairman of its New York-based Macy’s Home Store division, effective July 25, 2005.

Adams, who had been chairman of the Miami-based Macy’s Florida division (formerly Burdine’s), succeeds Eric Salus, who has resigned “to pursue other interests.” The company said Adams’ successor as chairman of the 61-store division will be named shortly

Adams, who began his retail career at Macy’s in Atlanta in 1976, has also served as president of the Seattle-based former Bon Marche (now Macy’s Northwest) division. Prior to that, he was merchandise administrator, and later group vp, senior vp and executive vp/gmm for the San Francisco-based Macy’s West division.

Macy’s Home Store is responsible for the centralized buying, merchandising and marketing of home furnishings for the company’s 423 Macy’s stores nationwide.
