Bankrupt furniture retailer files plan for reorganization

Rhodes Inc. (Atlanta), which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November 2004, has filed a plan of reorganization. The company said it expects to emerge from bankruptcy by early fall.

Joel Dugan, who has been named president and ceo of Rhodes effective July 5, stated: “The filing of a chapter 11 plan by Rhodes is an important, first step towards exiting bankruptcy. Rhodes continues to implement its reorganization strategy and looks forward to concluding its chapter 11 case soon.”

Rhodes is one of the largest furniture retailers in the country, operating 64 stores located in 11 southern and midwestern states. It closed 26 stores at the time of its filing.
