J.CREW (NEW YORK) is known for its clean and refined style, something that is seamlessly integrated into its new 7232-square-foot flagship at North Park Center in Dallas. Designed by New York-based Kenneth Park Architects, the new location includes an unusual twist on traditional retail design with the store’s center housing fitting rooms, providing both convenience for shoppers and easy connection with sales associates; this area is also strategically placed near the cashwrap. Smooth, geometric curves and soft perimeter lighting complement notable features like a bespoke setee for trying on shoes. Its interior is also split into thirds by large arches that provide a sense of intimacy without interrupting its airy and open aesthetic. Continuing that trend is its 12-foot-tall, rounded glass storefront that utilizes the “Gruen effect,” revealing intriguing glimpses into its interior. As the “pioneering model” in the retailer’s latest store rollout, this flagship is described by the design team as a “canvas” for experimentation.
