Ahead of Saks Fifth Avenue’s (New York) $250 million renovation of its New York flagship, the store has begun updates “going back to the heritage with a deep nod to modernism,” president Marigay McKee told Women’s Wear Daily. “We’re dramatically elevating all the touch points, from product selection to customer service to store environment.” These include the placement of fashion offerings in a more visible and up-front way, “with more dramatic visual statements,” McKee says.

Lighting on the first floor has been upgraded, as well. Uniformed doormen have been hired to greet guests, and packaging has also been upgraded to a better paper stock. The new black bags feature white squares with the Saks logo in the center and a black-and-white grosgrain bow on the front.
