Target Closing Portrait Studios

Maximizing valuable front-of-store space

Target Corp. (Minneapolis) announced it will close seven of its 145 Target Portrait Studios nationwide.

The big-box retailer has been evaluating the best and most profitable use of the valuable front-of-store space as it remodels select locations. In some stores that will open up room for an expanded Starbucks or larger customer service areas, while others may add a liquor or optical store, reports the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

The portrait studios are leased and operated by Lifetouch (Eden Prairie, Minn.) in about 10 percent of Target’s 1800 stores.
