Wet Seal to Open 13 Pop-Up Shops

Temporary seasonal shops will be used to test new markets

Wet Seal (Irvine, Calif.) announced that it will be opening more than a dozen pop-up shops throughout the country, in anticipation of the holiday shopping season.

The retailer will open 13 pop-up shops on Nov. 3 in various markets, including ones where the company previously operated stores but which were shuttered when it declared bankruptcy last year. This will allow the retailer to test the idea of opening permanent stores in those areas.

The pop-up stores will range in size from 3000 to 5000 square feet, whereas the average Wet Seal store size is between 3000 and 3500 square feet. They will also carry the same kind of merchandise as existing Wet Seal stores, reports Women’s Wear Daily. The stores are expected to be open until the end of January.
