Japan-based 7-Eleven (U.S. headquarters: Irving, Texas) has acquired 15 convenience stores in the Las Vegas area from local chain Short Line Express Market, C-Store Dive reports. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Most of the c-stores – which have already been rebranded –are in metro Las Vegas, along with two in nearby Henderson and another pair in North Las Vegas. Short Line is keeping two of its locations in metro Las Vegas, the spokesperson added.

The deal expands 7-Eleven’s footprint in Las Vegas, where the retailer is already a dominant player. (According to LocationsCloud.com, Las Vegas is 7-Eleven’s second-largest U.S. market, with 177 locales. California is its largest state market by far, with nearly 1900 stores.)

The Short Line deal marks another example of a smaller convenience retailer selling many of its assets as the industry’s profitability troubles persist in a difficult operating environment, C-Store Dive noted.
