MakerBot Closes Retail Stores

Pioneer of 3-D printing, MakerBot (Brooklyn, N.Y.), which sells printers directly to consumers, recently laid off staff and closed its three retail stores, including a flagship in New York's Nolita neighborhood, reports Crain’s New York Business.

“As a company that's focused on leading-edge innovation, we've learned to embrace change in order to stay focused,” read a note on MakerBot's website confirming layoffs, closures and other cost cuts. “We at MakerBot are reorganizing our business in order to focus on what matters most to our customers.”

The company will continue to sell its printers at Home Depot and Sam’s Club.
