Torrid Demotes CEO, Names Replacement

A former chief executive of Belk, Gymboree and Hot Topic will take the reins of the women’s fashion brand

Torrid (City of Industry, Calif.) has announced changes to its leadership team and board, according to a company press release. The apparel brand has named Liz Muñoz as its new Chief Creative Officer, formerly Torrid’s CEO. Retail industry veteran Lisa Harper will take over Muñoz’s former Chief Executive Officer role.

Stefan Kaluzny, Chairman of Torrid’s Board of Directors, says, “Liz has done a terrific job leading Torrid, including playing an important role in the company’s successful initial public offering in 2021 … Liz is driven by her passion for product and Torrid’s customer, and we are thrilled to have her assume this critical new role at the company.”

In Muñoz’s new role, she will oversee merchandising, design, product development, sourcing, fabrication, technical fit and creative marketing. Harper will remain on Torrid’s Board of Directors and has previously served as CEO for Gymboree, Belk and Hot Topic.

The company has also named Tanner MacDiarmid as its interim CFO, and also announced Michael Shaffer as an independent member and chair for the Audit Committee for Torrid’s Board of Directors.
